Eavan Boland

O swan by swan my heart goes down
Through Dublin town, through Dublin town

from Liffeytown

I salvaged Eavan Boland’s New Collected Poems from the wreck of Borders just before Christmas and started to read it last night.
heart-stopping.
heart breaking.
I don’t know if I’m in love or in despair.
How could I ever write anything as good?

I like this poem a lot.

Its strange what we can find in orders or closing down sales. My sister in law bought me classic FM’s compilation of favourite poems from one of these shops. At first i was, oh dear, but its a very good compilation. I’m enjoying reconnecting with Rudyard Kipling.
